GOOGLE GLASS


The Google one of the world's  most innovative company comes up with another innovative product : "Google Glass".
The Google Glass is the most exciting innovation in the mobile technology since the iPhone. 

WHAT IS GOOGLE GLASS

Google Glass is a  smart pair of wearable glasses with a inbuilt computer, an integrated heads-up display, a microphone, GPS, a camera mounted in frame, use bone induction to give sound and a battery hidden inside the frame. The Glass doesn't actually have lenses in front of your eye but just have a small screen (view able via a mirrored glass prism) above and to the right of the wearer's right eye. Within the prism is a mirror and beam splitter that renders the projected image as a display.




Google Glass display information in a smartphone like format, hand free and can interact  through voice commands.
Glass is being developed by Google X lab, which has worked on other futuristic technologies such as driver less cars.

The first Glass demo resembles a pair of normal eyeglasses where the lens is replaced head up display. Google Glass run on modified Android.

FEATURES OF GOOGLE GLASS.


  • Photography and Video: Glass has a decent resolution camera with a decent lens that can take high quality photos and  can record 720p HD videos.
  • Google Applications:  Glass utilizes many existing Google applications such as Google Maps, Google Now, Google search , able to display weather, Google hang out, etc. Most of these is self explanatory; hang out is Google's video conferencing technology and allows the user to talk to people over web cam and stream them what you are seeing. The directions use Google maps and the inbuilt GPS to help user find the way. The people are already developing some cool apps for Google Glass platform.; including one that allows the user to identify their friends in a crowd, and another that dictate an email for the user. 
  •  Voice Commands: Voice control is used to control the device: you say " OK glass" to get a range of options including taking pictures , videos, send messages using speech to text ,"hang out" with friends or get direction to somewhere. You access these options by saying them out loud.
  • Share and Social networking: through Google+, send messages, video chat.(Google hang out)
WiFi and Bluetooth would be used to send pictures to the screen, whilst bone- indication can be used for sound, vibrating your skull to communicate the sound into your ear.

 RELEASE AND  AVAILABILITY

The Explorer Edition is available to tester and developers in the US for $1,500 (aprox Indian Rs 55,000  to 65,000) while a consumer version will be available by the end of 2013. the Glass is predicted to be available to the public for "around the cost of current smartphone".

The device is lighter than the average pair of sunglasses and flexible glasses design will come in five colors- Charcoal, Tangerine, Shale, Cotton, Sky. The available frame color ; black, orange, grey, white and blue  for anyone  those who prefers plain English over marketing speak.

Google is considering partnering with sun-glass retailers such as Ray-Ban or Warby Parker, and may open retail stores to allow customers to try on the device.

In future, new designs may allow integration of the display into human's normal eye wear.
