TATA Mega PIxel is new four seated city concept car by TATA. Tata Motors is the world's 8th largest vehicle manufacturer and one of the leading car manufacturer in India. It was presented by Tata at Geneva Motor show in 2012. Tata Megapixel is a Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) concept.
REEV is a series hybrid vehicle which has a gas engine and electric motor. The car is powered only by electric motor, the gas engine does not power the car, it is used as a
generator that supplies power to the batteries, when the batteries are discharged.This increases the mileage of the vehicle.
Technical specification.
The dimension are 3504 x 1673 x 1405 mm ( length x width x height). The car is driven by four electric motors ( 10 kW power each) attached to each wheel, with auxiliary power unit to provide REEV capability. The electric motors are powered by 13 kWh Lithium Ion Phosphate battery. A new innovative induction charging system (wireless charging ) is introduced for fast charging, can be charged 80% capacity in 30 minutes. The auxiliary power unit is a single cylinder petrol engine. CO2 emissions of just 22 g/km and fuel economy of 100 km/liter under a combined driving mode. The car attain a maximum speed of 110 km/h. Maximum vehicle range of over 900 Km, including battery range of 87 Km.
Other features
The car has independent electric motors, one at each wheel. When parking, the electric hub motors drives the wheels in opposite directions, while the front wheels are turned at an acute angle, enabling an exceptional 2.8 meter turning radius. For charging case has simply to be parked over the induction pad for charging to begin. A double- sliding door system and in built-in large touchscreen HMI ( human machine interface), at the center of the instruction panel. The console docking point can connect a smart phone with the car.
